Viet Nam exported 235,000 tonnes of cassava and cassava products worth US$105.01 million in April, up 10.8 per cent and 31.7 per cent in volume and value year-on-year.
Exports of cassava and cassava-based products were estimated to be worth US$443 million in the first four months of the year, a year on-year increase of 23.9 per cent.
The agro-forestry-fisheries export turnover in April was estimated at
2.97 billion USD, bringing the four-month figure to over 10 billion USD,
up 11 percent against the same period last year.
The agro-forestry-fishery sector''s export turnover was estimated at
US$16.93 billion in the first seven months of 2015, the Ministry of
Agriculture and Rural Development announced.
Viet Nam saw a 2.8 per cent year-on-year reduction in the export value
of agricultural, fish-eries, and forestry products to record US$14.42
billion during the first half of 2015.
Viet Nam has witnessed a resurgence in its cassava
exports since August 2014, but its cassava industry continues to face
development challenges, experts said.
Viet Nam''s exports of cassava declined by 32.4 per
cent to 652,000 tonnes, and by 30.6 per cent in value to $206 million,
during the first two months of 2014.
